Regular Season Round 24: Budivelnyk - Ferro-ZNTU 98-102
Date: November 30, 2012
Very significant was Ferro-ZNTU's (#2) 102-98 road victory against one of their biggest challengers Budivelnyk. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Budivelnyk was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 59-52 second half run of Ferro-ZNTU. It was a great shooting night for Ferro-ZNTU especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Budivelnyk was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) who scored that evening 27 points and 7 assists and R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) supported him with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by guard Malcolm Delaney (191-89, college: Virginia Tech) did not help to save the game for Budivelnyk. Forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri, agency: Edge Sports) added 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Budivelnyk's coach Ainars Bagatskis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ferro-ZNTU have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Budivelnyk at the other side dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Hoverla. Ferro-ZNTU will play against BC Kyiv (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Budivelnyk will play against Kryvbasbasket (#7) in Krivoy Rog and hopes to get back on the winning track.
