Regular Season Round 24: Khimik - Cherkasy 85-92

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Khimik (11-4) in Yuzhny on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Cherkasy (7-8) 92-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Khimik. Khimik trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 23-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 85-92 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and Lithuanian guard Tomas Delininkaitis (190-82, agency: Interperformances) who added 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian guard Devoe Joseph (193-90, college: Oregon, agency: Interperformances) with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and international center Artem Pustovyi (215-92, agency: Beo Basket) scored 17 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cherkasy moved-up to eighth place, which they share with BC Donetsk. Khimik at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Azovmash. Cherkasy is looking forward to face bottom-ranked BC Odessa (#14) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Khimik will have a break next round.
