Regular Season Round 24: Dnipro - Hoverla 81-91

Very predictable result in Dnepropetrovsk where fifth ranked Hoverla (11-5) defeated 12th ranked Dnipro (4-12) 91-81. It looked good early as Dnipro took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hoverla had a 27-18 second period charge getting the lead and Dnipro was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-91. It was a great shooting night for Hoverla especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 69.2 percentage. 26 personal fouls committed by Dnipro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: George Mason) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import Kyndall Dykes (190-87, college: New Orleans, agency: Edge Sports) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Dykes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Hoverla players scored in double figures. Australian-Dutch power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Derrick Low (188-86, college: Washington St.) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Dnipro. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Hoverla have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Budivelnyk. Dnipro lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Hoverla's next round opponent will be DniproAzot (#11) in Dniprodzerzhynsk and are hoping to win another game. Dnipro will play at home against Halychyna in Lviv.
