Regular Season Round 10: BG 89 Avides - Oberhausen 76-60
Date: December 1, 2012
Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (5-5) defeated at home bottom-ranked Oberhausen (1-9) 76-60. The game was mostly controlled by Rotenburg/Scheessel. Oberhausen was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oberhausen to just 7 points in third quarter. Rotenburg/Scheessel forced 20 Oberhausen turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Samantha Meissel (188-88, college: Indianapolis) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the other American import guard Vanessa House (170-88, college: W.Virginia) supported her with 18 points and 5 assists. Rotenburg/Scheessel's coach Roland Senger allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 12 points, 9 assists and 4 steals by Fijian guard Valerie Nainima (165-86, college: S.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Oberhausen. Dutch forward Sharon Beld (184-88) added 19 points for lost side. Rotenburg/Scheessel moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Marburg and Freiburg. Oberhausen lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Rotenburg/Scheessel will play against higher ranked SV Halle Lions (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Oberhausen will play against the league's leader Heli Girls (#1) in Noerdlingen to get more than just one victory in their record.
