Very important is a home loss of third ranked Quakenbrueck Dragons (6-4) against fifth ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (6-4) on Saturday night. Host Quakenbrueck Dragons were defeated by ASC Theresianum Mainz in a tough game in Quakenbrueck 70-78. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Quakenbrueck Dragons won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ASC Theresianum Mainz dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Quakenbrueck Dragons' 30. ASC Theresianum Mainz players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Bulgarian guard Gergana Georgieva (180-87) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and Czech center Gabriela Jandova (190-73) supported her with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. ASC Theresianum Mainz's coach Alexander Schoch allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 27 points by Canadian guard Brittany Moore (168-89) did not help to save the game for Quakenbrueck Dragons. Forward Katrin Sokoll-Potratz (176-71) added 5 points and 21 rebounds for lost side. ASC Theresianum Mainz moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Opladen and Quakenbrueck. ASC Theresianum Mainz will play against TG Neuss (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Quakenbrueck Dragons will play against the league's second-placed Berlin (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
