A very close game took place in Kaunas between Birstono and Zalgiris-Sabonio. Fourteenth ranked Birstono (5-11) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (10-6). Birstono managed to escape with a 2-point win 66-64 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zalgiris-Sabonio. At the losing side center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Justas Tamulis (194-94, agency: Beo Basket) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Birstono maintains fourteenth position with 5-11 record. Loser Zalgiris-Sabonio keeps the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Meresta and Suduva-Mantinga. Birstono will meet at home higher ranked Statyba (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Zalgiris-Sabonio will play against the league's second-placed Zanavykas having rather not much hope for a victory.
