Alges (#9) forced the game against Barcelos (#8) into an overtime, but lost by four points 92-96. The game took place in Alges. But the guests from Barcelos were better at the end. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-17. But Alges won second period 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Alges used huge pressure winning it 22-19 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 16-20. They outrebounded Alges 45-27 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Montenegrin forward Marko Loncovic (200-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Carlos Fechas (180-81) contributed with 20 points and 6 assists for the winners. American forward Jamarkus Holt (205, college: Delta St.) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Josimar Cardoso (201-87) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Alges. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Barcelos (3-4) moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Alges keep the ninth position with five games lost. Barcelos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Academica (#4) in Coimbra and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alges will play on the road against Sampaense (#8) in Coimbra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
