Regular Season Round 11: TBB Trier - EWE Baskets 74-67

Date: December 2, 2012
The game in Trier was also quite interesting. 4th placed EWE Baskets (7-4) played at the court of sixth ranked TBB Trier (7-3). TBB Trier managed to secure a 7-point victory 74-67 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-14. But EWE Baskets won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TBB Trier made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Nate Linhart (201-86, college: Akron) who led the winners and scored 15 points. His fellow American import guard Barry Stewart (191-88, college: Mississippi St.) accounted for 13 points for the winning side. Linhart is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Naturalized Dutch forward Robin Smeulders (207-87, college: Portland, agency: Court Side) came up with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Adam Chubb (208-81, college: Pennsylvania, agency: Pro One Sports) added 13 points respectively for EWE Baskets in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for TBB Trier. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser EWE Baskets dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Art.Dragons. TBB Trier will meet EnBW Ludwigsburg (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. EWE Baskets will play against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#14) in Frankfurt and hope to secure a win.
