The game between closely ranked teams ended with 12th ranked Hacettepe's (2-7) road loss to eleventh ranked Tofas (4-5) 79-87 on Saturday. Hacettepe trailed by 20 points after 3 quarters before a 28-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-87 at the end of the game. Tofas made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Tofas outrebounded Hacettepe 36-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. American-Ukrainian guard Steven Burtt (185-84, college: Iona) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 assists for the winners and American power forward Joshua Heytvelt (210-86, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Tofas players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was swingman Polat Kaya (197-86) with 15 points and Muhammed Baygul (191-92) scored 8 points and 7 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tofas moved-up to seventh place, which they share with TED Kolejliler and Aliaga. Hacettepe lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Tofas will face league's second-placed Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hacettepe will play at home against the league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
