Regular Season Round 10: Fortuna - Sirenos 79-82

The most exciting game of round 10 in the LMKL took place in Klaipeda. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Fortuna (7-4) to third ranked Sirenos (7-3) 82-79 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Fortuna. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Fortuna was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-20 charge of Sirenos, which allowed them to win the game. The former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (195-82, college: Illinois, agency: Josep and Nicolas) fired 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Keiva Council (172-90, college: Loyola, LA) produced 26 points and the former international swingman Lina Aglinskaite (182-87) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sirenos moved-up to second place. Fortuna at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Suduva. Sirenos are looking forward to face Ruta Siauliai (#5) at home in the next round. Fortuna will play against the league's leader Kibirkstis-Tiche in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
