Regular Season Round 12: Giurgiu - CSU Sibiu 60-70

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked CSU Sibiu and 11th ranked Giurgiu had identical 5-6 record. But Giurgiu was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Sibiu 70-60 on Saturday night. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. CSU Sibiu dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Giurgiu's 22. They outrebounded Giurgiu 39-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Devon Austin (198-87, college: Manhattan) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Mihail-Octavian Paul (188-82) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Kevin Sims (178-88, college: Tulane) replied with 18 points and his fellow American import forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) added 11 points in the effort for Giurgiu. CSU Sibiu have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain tenth position with 6-6 record. Loser Giurgiu keeps the eleventh place with seven games lost. CSU Sibiu will face Farul Const. (#14) in Constanca in the next round. Giurgiu will play on the road against Miercurea Ciuc.
