There was a minor upset in Balikesir where 10th ranked Pertevniyal (5-6) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Bandirma Kir. (5-6) 82-78 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-9. But Pertevniyal won second period 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was power forward Raymond Sykes (206-86, college: Clemson, agency: Three Eye Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Gilbert Brown (198-87, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Bandirma Kir.'s coach Selcuk Ernak used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Dewayne Reed (185-87, college: Auburn, agency: EM-PA) produced 21 points and 4 steals and forward Anthony Brown (203-86, college: Oklahoma St., agency: KMG Sports Management) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Bandirma Kir. and four Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bandirma Kir.. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Pertevniyal. Bandirma Kir. will meet higher ranked Yesilgiresun (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
