Regular Season Round 12: Pi Koleji - Vestel 70-83
Date: December 12, 2012
Very predictable result in Ankara where ninth ranked Vestel (7-5) beat 16th ranked Pi Koleji (3-9) 83-70. It looked good early as Pi Koleji took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Vestel had a 24-5 second period charge getting the lead and Pi Koleji was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-83. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Pi Koleji to just 5 points in second quarter. The winners were led by American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the other American import guard Antabia Waller (188-88, college: Auburn) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Knox is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Vestel's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 12 points and 9 assists by guard Berkay Sahillioglu (183-88) did not help to save the game for Pi Koleji. Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84) added 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Pi Koleji players scored in double figures. Vestel moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Trabzonspor and Akhisar Bld. Pi Koleji lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with nine games lost. Vestel's next round opponent will be Balikesir (#10) at home. Pi Koleji will play against Final Genclik (#14) in Bursa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
