There was a minor upset when higher ranked Balikesir (6-6) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Istanbul B.B. (6-6) 70-66. The guests were ahead by 9 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 28-21 run, which allowed them to win the game. Istanbul B.B. dominated on the defensive end, holding Balikesir to just 6 points in second quarter. They also forced 19 Balikesir turnovers. The winners were led by American power forward Arthur Johnson (206-81, college: Missouri) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Recep Dogrusoz (-86) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists by American power forward Pervis Pasco (206-81, college: Kansas St.) did not help to save the game for Balikesir. His fellow American import point guard Robert Lowery (188-87, college: Dayton) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Istanbul B.B. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Balikesir. Istanbul B.B.'s next round opponent will be league's second-placed Selcuk Universitesi in Konya and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
