Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Farul Const. (1-12) was rolled over on the road by tenth ranked CSU Sibiu (7-6) 84-63 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by CSU Sibiu. Farul Const. was better in third quarter 19-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Farul Const. 37-24 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. CSU Sibiu looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when CSU Sibiu made 8 blocks. Lithuanian forward Mantas Griskenas (200-85, college: Wichita St.) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and American guard Jefferson Mason (198-88, college: Minnesota St.) chipped in 16 points. CSU Sibiu's coach Miodrag Perisic felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Jeremi Booth (195-87, college: Appalachian St.) responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian power forward Dragan Petronic (206-82) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for CSU Sibiu. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Gaz Metan and Rovinari. Newly promoted Farul Const. dropped to the fifteenth position with 12 games lost. CSU Sibiu will face higher ranked Targu Mures (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Farul Const. will play against Miercurea Ciuc (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
