Regular Season Round 19: Suduva-Mantinga - Olimpas 92-90

The most exciting game of round 19 in the NKL took place in Marijampole. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Olimpas (13-6) to fifth ranked Suduva-Mantinga (13-6) 92-90 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Olimpas. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 29-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Olimpas 39-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. Forward Marius Valukonis (198-88) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Guard Zilvinas Kuklierius (180-85) chipped in 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. Suduva-Mantinga's coach Gintautas Zibuda used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) produced 28 points (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Suduva-Mantinga have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Zanavykas and Olimpas. Suduva-Mantinga is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Gargzdai-Bremena (#18) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Olimpas will play against Radviliskis (#15) and is hoping to win this game.
