The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Budivelnyk as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Budivelnyk defeated 7th ranked Cherkasy in Kyiv 77-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cherkasy. The game was mostly controlled by Budivelnyk. Cherkasy managed to win second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international Artur Drozdov (200-80) fired 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Lithuanian center Michailis Anisimovas (214-84) chipped in 6 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) produced 12 points and his fellow American import forward Vincent Hunter (208-84, college: Arkansas) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Budivelnyk have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Cherkasy at the other side keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. They share the position with Mykolaiv. Cherkasy will play next round against BC Kyiv trying to get back on the winning streak. Budivelnyk will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Mykolaiv in Mykolaiv.
