Regular Season Round 13: Maliye Milli - Gelisim 91-101

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Maliye Milli (10-3) in Ankara on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by thirteenth ranked Gelisim (6-7) 101-91. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Maliye Milli. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 56-41 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Gelisim shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Michael Porrini (187-89, college: Kent St.) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). His fellow American import power forward Jermaine Dearman (202-80, college: S.Illinois) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Gelisim players scored in double figures. American guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU, agency: Pro One Sports) answered with 28 points and forward Recai Ozturk (198-82) added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Maliye Milli. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gelisim moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Maliye Milli at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Darussafaka and Usak. Gelisim is looking forward to face Istanbul B.B. (#12) at home in the next round. Maliye Milli will play against Pertevniyal (#9) in Istanbul and is hoping to win this game.
