Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Statyba (13-7) won against 8th ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (11-9) in Vilnius 78-70 on Saturday. Zalgiris-Sabonio was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Zalgiris-Sabonio was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 7 assists. Center Vitalijus Luksa (206-86) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
