Regular Season Round 12: Wulfen - MTV Wolfenbuettel 79-71

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked BSV Wulfen (4-8) beat at home 10th ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (4-8) 79-71 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Herzoege Wolfenbuettel won third quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when BSV Wulfen won last quarter 20-14. It was a good game for American center Anthony Young (200-89, college: Ky Wesleyan) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Hendrik Bellscheidt (193-90) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Swingman Henje Knopke (193-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and center Frank Theis (200-82) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Herzoege Wolfenbuettel. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BSV Wulfen moved-up to ninth place in Group North, which they share with MTV Wolfenbuettel and Hannover. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel lost third consecutive game. BSV Wulfen will face league's second-placed Herten Lions on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
