Regular Season Round 9: Rilski Sportist - Beroe 87-81

Date: December 15, 2012
No shocking result in a game in Samokov where second ranked Rilski Sportist (7-2) defeated 7th ranked Beroe (3-5) 87-81. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 15 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 32-23 Beroe's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 87-81 at the end of the game. Beroe was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for international Hristo Zahariev (197-90) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 4 steals. Serbian guard Branko Mirkovic (190-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. American guard Will Walker (183, college: De Paul) answered with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Atanas Radev (200-81) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Beroe. Four Beroe players scored in double figures. Beroe's coach Georgi Mladenov rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rilski Sportist have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-2 record behind leader Lukoil Academik, which they share with Levski Sofia. Newly promoted Beroe keeps the seventh position with five games lost.
