Regular Season Round 11: Sandhausen - Trier 96-62

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Trier's (1-9) road loss to ninth ranked TG 1889 Sandhausen (4-6) 62-96 on Saturday. The game without a history. TG 1889 Sandhausen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Trier's 36 and made 31-of-37 free shots (83.8 percent) during the game, while Trier only scored eleven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Trier 42-21 including a 27-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Canadian center Matteke Hutzler (188) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 19 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Center Franziska Baumann (179-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Five TG 1889 Sandhausen players scored in double figures. TG 1889 Sandhausen's coach Markus Jochum felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Sabrina Thomas (163) produced 15 points and guard Johanna Beckert (165) added 16 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. TG 1889 Sandhausen moved-up to seventh place in South, which they share with Bad Aibling and Jahn Muenchen. Trier lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with nine games lost. TG 1889 Sandhausen will face league's leader TV Saarlouis Royals at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trier will play against Speyer / Schifferstadt (#6) in Dudenhofen.
