Regular Season Round 9: Benfica - Fisica 85-61

LPB top team - Benfica (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Fisica (2-6) 85-61. The game was mostly controlled by Benfica. Fisica was better in fourth quarter 27-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Fisica to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Fisica 38-23 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Ricky Franklin (185-87, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) stepped up and scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard LaceDarius Dunn (193-87, college: Baylor, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 22 points. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Edson Rosario (193-82) with 22 points and Guinea-Bissau Franklim Furtado (198-87) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Benfica. Defending champion maintains first place with 8-0 record. Fisica lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Benfica will play against bottom-ranked Galitos-Tley (#11) in Barreiro in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fisica will play at home against Alges and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
