Date: December 16, 2012
Tenth ranked Antakya (4-5) crushed at home 13th ranked Edremit (1-8) by 45 points 106-61, which is the biggest margin this round on Sunday night. The game without a history. Antakya led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Edremit's 42. They outrebounded Edremit 39-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Antakya especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Edremit's players. Center Naile Cirak (185-85) stepped up and scored 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Montenegrin center Ana Turcinovic (190-93) chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Antakya players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Constance Jinks (170-81, college: UNLV, agency: Merit Sports) with 26 points and the other American import Amisha Carter (186-82, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Antakya moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Mersin and Istanbul Univ. Edremit lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Antakya will face league's second-placed Galatasaray in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Edremit will play at home against the league's leader Fenerbahce (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
