The game had a very big importance for second-ranked TSV 1880 Wasserburg as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Heli Girls) loss. TSV 1880 Wasserburg defeated 9th ranked Rhein Main Baskets at home 80-72. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rhein Main Baskets won third quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TSV 1880 Wasserburg dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Rhein Main Baskets' 32. They outrebounded Rhein Main Baskets 47-29 including a 31-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Emma Cannon (188-89, college: Cent.Florida) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds. The former international power forward Katharina Fikiel (193-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Denise Beliveau (180-89, college: New Hampshire) answered with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Anya Covington (187-90, college: Wisconsin) added 11 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Rhein Main Baskets. Four Rhein Main Baskets players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Heli Girls. Rhein Main Baskets at the other side keep the ninth place with seven games lost. Rhein Main Baskets will play next round against Osnabruck trying to get back on the winning streak. TSV 1880 Wasserburg will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg at home.
