A very interesting game took place in Balikesir. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 14th ranked Bandirma Kir. (5-8) to eighth ranked Akhisar Bld (8-5) 67-65 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Bandirma Kir. was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Bandirma Kir. 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. American forward Tyrone Nelson (206-85, college: N.Mexico St.) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Guard Guven Esmer (193-80) chipped in 19 points. Forward Cenk Sekeroglu (203-91) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Yigitcan Turna (187-87) added 18 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akhisar Bld moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Bandirma Kir. at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with eight games lost. Akhisar Bld's next round opponent will be Trabzonspor (#5) at home. Bandirma Kir. will play against the league's second-placed Usak (#2) and be promoted back to the TBL just one year after relegation.
