There was no surprise when 14th ranked Walter Tigers (6-8) were edged by third ranked ALBA Berlin (10-4) in Tuebingen 78-77 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 20-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. ALBA Berlin made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) saved the victory by scoring 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). point guard DaShaun Wood (185-85, college: Wright St.) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) replied with 16 points and 5 assists and center Kenny Frease (213-89, college: Xavier) added 13 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Walter Tigers. Four ALBA Berlin and five Walter Tigers players scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin maintains third position with 10-4 record having just two points less than leader Brose Bask. Loser Walter Tigers dropped to the tenth place with eight games lost. ALBA Berlin will face league's second-placed EWE Baskets in Oldenburg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Walter Tigers will play on the road against Telekom Baskets (#14) in Bonn.
