Regular Season Round 13: Sirenos - Utena 74-72

Seventh-ranked Utena (2-11) made lots of trouble for second ranked Sirenos (10-3) in Kaunas. Sirenos managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Utena won third quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Sirenos won last quarter 20-20. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Erika Liutkute (173-90) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Rasa Zemantauskaite (176-81) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Sirenos' coach Linas Salkus allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. point guard Rita Milieskiene (175-78) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Rita Zilinskaite (175-92) added 20 points in the effort for Utena. Four Utena players scored in double figures. Sirenos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader Kibirkstis-Tiche. Utena lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Sirenos' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Aistes-LSU.
