Regular Season Round 21: Radviliskis - Statyba 73-71

A very interesting game took place in Radviliskis. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Statyba (13-8) to sixteenth ranked Radviliskis (6-14) 73-71 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-19. But Statyba won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Statyba helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Darius Gricius (195-86) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. Forward Vaidas Trepocka (200-80, agency: Court Side) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Radviliskis players scored in double figures. point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) answered with 15 points and 7 assists and guard Martynas Paliukenas (195-93) added 13 points in the effort for Statyba. Statyba's coach Gintautas Regina let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Radviliskis moved-up to fifteenth place. Statyba at the other side keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Radviliskis' next round opponent will be higher ranked Zanavykas (#5) in Sakiai and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
