LPB top team - Benfica (9-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Galitos-Tley (1-8) in Barreiro 83-79. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-79. Benfica outrebounded Galitos-Tley 45-24 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Heshimu Evans (198-75, college: Kentucky) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Diogo Carreira (180-78) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side the former international point guard Pedro Pinto (188-88) responded with 29 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Antonio Tavares (183-75) scored 24 points and 5 assists. Five Benfica and four Galitos-Tley players scored in double figures. Galitos-Tley's coach Antonio Paulo Ferreira rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Benfica have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 9-0 record. Galitos-Tley lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. They share the position with Alges. Benfica are looking forward to face Ovarense (#4) at home in the next round. Galitos-Tley will play against Alges (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
