Regular Season Round 10: Fisica - Alges 79-76

A very interesting game took place in Torres Vedras. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 10th ranked Alges (1-8) to eighth ranked Fisica (3-6) 79-76 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Alges won third quarter 21-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Fisica won last quarter 23-21. Worth to mention a great performance of Guinea-Bissau Franklim Furtado (198-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Edson Rosario (193-82) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Fisica players scored in double figures. American forward Jamarkus Holt (205, college: Delta St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and the former international swingman Joao Manuel (192-79) added 27 points and 4 steals (made all of his nine free throws !!!) in the effort for Alges. Newly promoted Fisica maintains eighth position with 3-6 record. Alges lost fourth consecutive game. Alges at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the tenth place with eight games lost. Fisica's next round opponent will be higher ranked Academica (#3) in Coimbra and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Alges will play at home against Galitos-Tley (#11) in Barreiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
