Regular Season Round 15: Chemnitz - Gotha 77-65

Very expected game when 11th ranked Oettinger Rockets Gotha (5-10) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (9-6) 77-65. It looked good early as Oettinger Rockets Gotha took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then BV Chemnitz 99 had a 21-8 second period charge getting the lead and Oettinger Rockets Gotha was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-77. BV Chemnitz 99 dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Oettinger Rockets Gotha's 26. It was a good game for American center Donald Lawson (208-88, college: W.Michigan) who led his team to a victory with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import guard John Bynum (191-78, college: Metro St.) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four BV Chemnitz 99 players scored in double figures. BV Chemnitz 99's coach Felix Schreier allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Torvoris Baker (203-83, college: Detroit Mercy) answered with 13 points and 9 rebounds and guard Dmitrj Kreis (185-88) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Oettinger Rockets Gotha. The victory was the third consecutive win for BV Chemnitz 99. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Cuxhaven. Newly promoted Oettinger Rockets Gotha dropped to the thirteenth position with ten games lost. BV Chemnitz 99's next round opponent will be Finke Baskets (#12) in Paderborn and are hoping to win another game. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play on the road against USC Leipzig.
