Regular Season Round 12: Galatasaray - Gaziantep 84-66
Date: December 22, 2012
There was no surprise in Istanbul where 13th ranked Gaziantep (3-9) was defeated by second ranked Galatasaray (10-2) 84-66. The game without a history. Galatasaray led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Gaziantep's 22. The winners were led by Serbian Milan Macvan (205-89, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group) who scored that evening 15 points and 8 rebounds and the former international swingman Cenk Akyol (198-87) supported him with 15 points. Even a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds by American power forward Joey Dorsey (206-83, college: Memphis, agency: FCM) did not help to save the game for Gaziantep. His fellow American import guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) added 15 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galatasaray maintains second position with 10-2 record behind leader Fener.Ulker, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Banvit BK. Newly promoted Gaziantep dropped to the twelfth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Turk Telekom and Olin Edirne. Galatasaray will play against Banvit BK (#4) in Balikesir in the next round. Gaziantep will play at home against Antalya (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
