Regular Season Round 14: Pertevniyal - Maliye Milli 81-90
Date: December 22, 2012
Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where 10th ranked Pertevniyal (6-8) was defeated by fourth ranked Maliye Milli (11-3) 90-81. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Pertevniyal won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maliye Milli players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Pertevniyal helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Umit Turkoglu (211-81, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Maliye Milli's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Ramazan Tekin (212-93) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized FYR Macedonian Cedi Osman (195-95) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Pertevniyal. Four Maliye Milli and five Pertevniyal players scored in double figures. Maliye Milli moved-up to second place, which they share with Darussafaka and Usak. Pertevniyal at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Maliye Milli's next round opponent will be Istanbul B.B. (#13) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Pertevniyal will play against Yesilgiresun in Giresun.
