There was no surprise in Kaunas where 17th ranked Nafta Universitetas (5-17) was crushed by ninth ranked Zalgiris-Sabonio (12-10) 88-69 on Saturday. The game without a history. Zalgiris-Sabonio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Zalgiris-Sabonio forced 23 Nafta Universitetas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Nafta Universitetas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Swingman Paulius Sorokas (197-92) chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Zalgiris-Sabonio's coach Tomas Masiulis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Viktoras Chodosovskis (200-89) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Tadas Mazelis (194-92) added 17 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Four Nafta Universitetas players scored in double figures. Zalgiris-Sabonio moved-up to eighth place. Nafta Universitetas lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 17 games lost. Zalgiris-Sabonio will face higher ranked Suduva-Mantinga (#4) in Marijampole in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nafta Universitetas will play on the road against Radviliskis (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
