Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Erdemir and 10th ranked Mersin had identical 4-7 record. This time Erdemir used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Akdeniz 96-86. The game without a history. Erdemir led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Erdemir outrebounded Mersin 40-24 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The winners were led by American swingman Sean Marshall (198-85, college: Boston Coll.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and Slovenian forward Jure Balazic (204-80) supported him with 28 points and 8 rebounds. Erdemir's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) did not help to save the game for Mersin. American point guard David Holston (170-86, college: Chicago St., agency: Priority Sports) added 23 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Erdemir (5-7) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Tofas and Aliaga. Mersin at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Erdemir will play against higher ranked Besiktas (#6) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mersin will play on the road against TED Kolejliler (#7) in Ankara and hopes to get back on the winning track.
