Regular Season Round 32: Azovmash - Cherkasy 80-76

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Azovmash (15-5) beat 9th ranked Cherkasy (10-12) in Mariupol 80-76 on Tuesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 20-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Azovmash made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. American point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 assists. The former international center Oleksiy Pecherov (213-85) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Azovmash's coach Sergei Zavalin used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Denis Ikovlev (201-86, college: Nevada, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cherkasy. Five Azovmash and four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Azovmash have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 15-5 record having 2 victories less than leader Budivelnyk. Cherkasy at the other side keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Azovmash are looking forward to face league's leader Budivelnyk in Kyiv in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cherkasy will have a break next round.
