Regular Season Round 11: Fenerbahce - Galatasaray 83-67

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#1) and Galatasaray (#2). Fenerbahce (11-0) crushed visiting Galatasaray (9-2) by 16 points 83-67. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Galatasaray. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce. Galatasaray managed to win third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Serbian center Ivana Matovic (197-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international guard Isil Alben (170-86) answered with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Galatasaray. Fenerbahce have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-0 record. Galatasaray at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Fenerbahce are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Besiktas (#14) in Istanbul in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Galatasaray will play at home against TED Ankara (#11) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
