Regular Season Round 15: Yesilgiresun - Pertevniyal 86-82
Date: December 29, 2012
Very predictable result in Giresun where sixth ranked Yesilgiresun (10-5) defeated 11th ranked Pertevniyal (6-9) 86-82 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 32-22. But Pertevniyal won third quarter 25-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American guard Alex Gordon (184-85, college: Vanderbilt) who led his team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!) and 7 assists. His fellow American import center John Ofoegbu (206-84, college: Idaho St.) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Burak Can Yildizli (202-94) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American forward Anthony Brown (203-86, college: Oklahoma St., agency: KMG Sports Management) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pertevniyal's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Yesilgiresun moved-up to fifth place. Loser Pertevniyal dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. Yesilgiresun will face higher ranked Maliye Milli (#3) in Ankara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pertevniyal will play on the road against Akhisar Bld (#7).
