Regular Season Round 15: Gmunden - Wels 81-74
Date: December 30, 2012
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Gmunden Swans (11-3) beat at home 7th ranked Raiffeisen Wels (6-8) 81-74. It looked good early as Raiffeisen Wels took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gmunden Swans had a 22-18 second period charge getting the lead and Raiffeisen Wels were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-81. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso, agency: SportsTalent) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Robert Arnold (198-88, college: Boise St.) helped adding 10 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) with 22 points and 8 rebounds and forward Tyler Tiedeman (201-85, college: Boise St., agency: Interperformances) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Five Gmunden Swans and four Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. Gmunden Swans have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-3 record having just -1 point less than leader BC Vienna. Raiffeisen Wels lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with UBSC Graz. Gmunden Swans will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Raiffeisen Wels will play at home against Arkadia Lions (#11) in Traiskirchen and hope to get back on the winning track.
