Regular Season Round 16: Neptunas - Juventus 96-83

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Neptunas (8-3) beat 7th ranked Juventus (5-6) in Klaipeda 96-83 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Neptunas. Juventus was better in fourth quarter 33-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Neptunas forced 20 Juventus turnovers. It was a very good performance for guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Karolis Petrukonis (212-87, college: Clemson) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and guard Arvydas Cepulis (197-79) added 21 points in the effort for Juventus. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Neptunas have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader Rudupis. Loser Juventus dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. Neptunas will face Lietkabelis (#5) in Panevezys in the next round. Juventus will play at home against LSU-Baltai in Kaunas.
