Regular Season Round 14: Turk Telekom - Mersin 78-80

Important game to mention about took place in Ankara. Twelfth ranked Mersin (5-9) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 13th ranked Turk Telekom (4-10) 80-78 on Saturday evening. Turk Telekom was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-21 charge of Mersin, which allowed them to win the game. Mersin outrebounded Turk Telekom 37-26 including 23 on the defensive glass. Turk Telekom was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized American forward Ali Karadeniz (203-80, college: Arizona) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. American point guard David Holston (170-86, college: Chicago St., agency: Priority Sports) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American point guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois, agency: Priority Sports) replied with 17 points and 7 assists and power forward Polat Kocaoglu (205-79, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 15 points in the effort for Turk Telekom. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Mersin moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Erdemir. Loser Turk Telekom dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Mersin will face higher ranked Besiktas (#6) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Turk Telekom will play at home against Galatasaray (#5) in Istanbul.
