Eleventh ranked BSV Wulfen won an overtime thriller against higher ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets by one point 81-80 on Saturday night. The game took place in Braunschweig. But the guests from Wulfen were better at the end. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Spot Up Medien Baskets. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 18-17 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 1-point victory in overtime. BSV Wulfen made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Spot Up Medien Baskets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American center Anthony Young (200-89, college: Ky Wesleyan) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Guard Hendrik Bellscheidt (193-90) chipped in 22 points. American point guard Steven Bennett (173-88, college: Chaminade) produced 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Cuban Howard Sant-Roos (200-91) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. BSV Wulfen (5-9) moved-up to ninth place in Group North, which they share with Hannover. Loser Spot Up Medien Baskets dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. BSV Wulfen will face league's leader SG Schwelmer Baskets at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
