Regular Season Round 12: Rilski Sportist - Spartak Pleven 94-74

There was no surprise in Samokov where 8th ranked Spartak Pleven (4-8) was crushed by third ranked Rilski Sportist (8-4) 94-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rilski Sportist. Spartak Pleven managed to win third quarter 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rilski Sportist dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 26. They outrebounded Spartak Pleven 49-25 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of international Hristo Zahariev (197-90) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Braxton Dupree (203-89, college: Towson, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who added 16 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Rilski Sportist's coach Rosen Barchovski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Ilia Stankov (198-76) with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Dimitar Marintchechki (201-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rilski Sportist maintains third position with 8-4 record having just two points less than leader Lukoil Academik. Spartak Pleven at the other side dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. Rilski Sportist will meet at home bottom-ranked U20 (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Spartak Pleven will play against the league's second-placed Levski Sofia and hope to secure a win.
