Regular Season Round 17: Ehingen - Leipzig 61-58

Date: January 12, 2013
Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked USC Leipzig (3-14) was edged by ninth ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (9-8) in Allmendingen 61-58 on Saturday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 61-58. American players dominated the game. Guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Andre Calvin (196-85, college: Drake) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Ehingen/Urspringschule's coach Ralph Junge used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Center Chris Gadley (207-87, college: Canisius) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and swingman Nick Freer (198-85, college: Grand Valley St.) added 16 points in the effort for USC Leipzig. Ehingen/Urspringschule moved-up to seventh place. USC Leipzig lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Ehingen/Urspringschule will face Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#13) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. USC Leipzig will play against Duesseldorf Baskets.
