No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Brasov (7-8) beat 12th ranked Rapid (3-12) in Bucuresti 80-64. The game was mostly controlled by Brasov. Rapid was better in fourth quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Rapid 50-34 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Gabriela Cursaru (169-92) fired 40 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Serbian center Biljana Stjepanovic (189-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Brasov players scored in double figures. Brasov's coach Daniel Calancea allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international guard Florina Diaconu (170-82) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Elena Constantin (167-86) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Brasov have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Sp.Studentesc and Craiova. Rapid lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Brasov's next round opponent will be higher ranked Sf.Gheorghe (#5) in Sfantu Gheorghe and it may be quite challenging game. Rapid will play on the road against Oradea (#15) in Oradea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
