Very important is a road loss of third ranked Maliye Milli (13-4) against eighth ranked Vestel (11-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Maliye Milli was defeated by Vestel in a tough game in Manisa 80-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maliye Milli. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 32-26. But Maliye Milli won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Vestel won last quarter 17-15. They also forced 19 Maliye Milli turnovers. Maliye Milli was plagued by 35 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Justin Knox (205-89, college: N.Carolina) stepped up and scored 31 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import guard Antabia Waller (188-88, college: Auburn) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Knox is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) responded with 11 points and 8 rebounds and forward Recai Ozturk (198-82) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Maliye Milli players scored in double figures. Maliye Milli's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Vestel have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Maliye Milli at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Selcuk Univ.. Vestel will play against Final Genclik (#10) in Bursa in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maliye Milli will play on the road against Akhisar Bld (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
