Regular Season Round 12: Speyer - Trier 83-57

Rather predictable result in Dudenhofen where sixth ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (6-5) outscored 10th ranked Trier (1-10) 83-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Speyer / Schifferstadt. Trier was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Speyer / Schifferstadt forced 19 Trier turnovers. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Kathryn Verboom (179-86) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Mandy Muller (183-86) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Speyer / Schifferstadt players scored in double figures. Speyer / Schifferstadt's coach Mike Gould felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Speyer / Schifferstadt moved-up to fifth place in South, which they share with Viernheim. Trier lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Speyer / Schifferstadt will face league's leader TV Saarlouis Royals on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Trier will play against BasCats Heidelberg (#4).
