Very important is a road loss of third ranked BG Karlsruhe (12-6) against tenth ranked ETB Wohnbau (8-10) on Friday night. Visiting BG Karlsruhe was edged by ETB Wohnbau in a tough game in Essen 74-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BG Karlsruhe. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-18. But BG Karlsruhe won second period 18-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when ETB Wohnbau won last quarter 17-15. American guard Aaron Cook (186-83, college: Hartford, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) notched 11 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward Logan Stutz (205-88, college: Washburn) supported him with 20 points. Even 11 points and 6 rebounds by American center DeWayne Richardson (202-77, college: Fairmont St.) did not help to save the game for BG Karlsruhe. Forward Rouven Roessler (200-80) added 10 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ETB Wohnbau moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Heidelberg. BG Karlsruhe at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Duesseldorf and Cuxhaven. ETB Wohnbau will play against NBC (#11) in Nurnberg in the next round. BG Karlsruhe will play at home against the league's leader SC Rasta Vechta (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
