There was an upset when higher ranked Recklinghausen (7-8) was outleveled on the road by eleventh ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (5-10) 100-81 on Friday. The game without a history. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Recklinghausen was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Lamonte Thomas (187, college: J.and Wales, RI, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with 31 points and 7 rebounds. Center Frank Theis (200-82) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Herzoege Wolfenbuettel players scored in double figures. American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Patrick Carney (185-85, college: Chapman) added 20 points in the effort for Recklinghausen. Recklinghausen's coach Bill Paterno rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel moved-up to tenth place in Group North, which they share with Wulfen. Newly promoted Recklinghausen keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Herzoege Wolfenbuettel will face league's second-placed SC Rist Wedel at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Recklinghausen will play against BSV Wulfen.
